Empowering Users: Advanced Solar Layouts with Our New Design Assistant

The team of Engineers at EcoFasten is consistently defining new solutions to make your time on the roof as quick and easy as possible, and that doesn’t stop on the product side of things. Like our portfolio of rooftop mounting systems and solar roof attachments, the new Design Assistant was developed in collaboration with the people who use it – solar installers.

Designed specifically for use with our installer favorites, the rail-less RockIt System and the rail-based ClickFit System, the Design Assistant allows you to build advanced project layouts either over satellite imagery or using project-specific, customizable worksheets (yes, plans are in place to add more of our racking systems to the Design Assistant for greater compatibility).

Built-in compatibility with PV industry module sizes and manufacturers is another nice feature that lends sophistication to an easy-to-use platform.  This compatibility is based on an extensive database of EcoFasten UL-listed modules. In addition to referencing the extensive database of EcoFasten UL-listed modules, you can also create and save custom modules if desired.

Solar installers appreciate the super-fast flow when creating or adding arrays, along with mixed-orientation options, giving you the ability to stagger and space around obstructions as much as needed. Quickly create the project layout and the Design Assistant calculates everything for you, including the components you’ll need for a successful rooftop solar installation – it’s that simple. Engineering reports and a visual BoM (Bill of Materials) for each of your project layouts are auto-generated right there on the spot.

Standards ASCE 7-10 (minimum design loads for building and other structures) and ASCE 7-16 (essentially the same as ASCE 7-10, with zones broken out into finer granularity) are taken into design consideration when using the tool, and the integrated customization for modules, roof slopes, wind speeds, snow loads, and more, allows for a more refined layout.  The Design Assistant automatically populates relevant site-specific design variables and references ASCE 7-16 certified span tables to quickly calculate the BOM for a given array.
