The Junction Box used on solar applications has two super simple, yet super important jobs:
- Linking solar panels together to create a complete array, and
- Enclosing and protecting solar electrical components from the elements
Our Junction Box does both. And so much more.
Back in May, we introduced the Junction Box to our product portfolio as a stand-alone product, as well as an electrical balance of system (eBoS) accessory. Installers appreciate that it can be mounted direct-to-deck or rail-mounted and that the ample box houses up to four strings (DC or AC), with a design that’s sleek and low-profile enough to sit completely and comfortably under the array.
The Junction Box provides protection from rain, wind-blown dust, sleet, ice, snow, you name it. The integrated weep holes meet NEMA 3R compliance and are an essential part of the overall design, as they safeguard against condensation build-up and corrosion.
When it comes to installation, we thought of everything, like multiple screw bosses (screws included) placed in multiple orientations, giving you flexibility with DIN rails and grounding lugs.
Even when you hinge the lid open, the lid screw and locking nut will stay in place, making it easy to get your work done quickly. The components needed for a successful install are so minimal it’ll make your head spin: Two components for deck-mounted applications and two components for rail-mounted applications, with included rail connectors that allow fast and easy attachment to any Module Level Power Electronics (MLPE) Mount.
Speaking of mounting applications: On composition shingle, it all starts with maintaining the integrity of the roof, so the Junction Box’s Deck-Mount Kit includes a The Junction Box features an EPDM compression-seal, that when compressed on the flashing, creates our patented watertight seal.
The Rail-Mounted Kit integrates with our ClickFit System using two ClickFit MLPE Mounts that have one purpose: Attaching/Securing the Module Level Power Electronics to the top of the rail.
The Junction Box also features pre-drilled guides on the South, East, and West providing an installation that’s streamlined and assisted. Talk about easy.
